Volunteer for Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey

January 11 @ 2:00 am - 6:00 am

Volunteer for Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey

Registration Required

This is the time of year to spot many Bald Eagles on the lower Connecticut River.  As our national symbol with an amazing conservation story, we celebrate the re-population and continued protection efforts of this bird of prey.  In conjunction with Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Connecticut River Museum is hosting a survey site and volunteers to participate in the Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey.

The purpose of the Midwinter Bald Eagle survey is to monitor the status of Bald Eagle wintering populations in the contiguous United States by estimating national and regional count trends, overall and by age class. Each January, several hundred individuals count eagles along standard, non-overlapping survey routes. Saturday, January 11th  from 7:00 am-11:00 am. There are two time slots for volunteers; 7:00 am – 9:00 am or 9:00 am-11:00 am. If you would like to volunteer, please register by emailing sburns@ctrivermuseum.org and state which time slot you would like to volunteer.
