Thomas A. Stevens Library

The Connecticut River Museum’s Thomas A. Stevens Library and research facility is located in the Hayden Chandlery. The white Federal-style structure, built in 1813, was once the home of Captain Richard Hayden, and then his store specializing in ship supplies and provisions.

Mr. Stevens was a writer and historian, and an authority on Connecticut River commerce and transportation. He had collected books, documents, maps, logs, journals, photographs, paintings and prints for more than 60 years. Stevens deeded his collection of materials relating to the Connecticut River to the Foundation.

Hours:

The Stevens library is open by appointment only, Tuesday through Thursday, 10am-5pm.
