Looking for something fun to do this spring break? Why not spend it exploring the Connecticut River? Between April 15 and 17, the Connecticut River Museum is hosting a three-day Spring Break Camp Sampler! We’re giving you a sneak peek into all the fun we have planned for summer camp this year. Come to one day or all four!

Spring Break Workshops run from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. Anyone between the ages of 6 and 11 is welcome!

April 15, Tuesday: Sailor Life, Pirates & RiverQuest
Have you ever wondered what life was like out on the open water? During this sample of our most popular week of camp, we’ll learn the crucial sailor skill of knot tying and rope making. Arrrrgh you ready matey?

April 16, Wednesday: River Explorers & RiverQuest
Join us in exploring the ecosystems of the Connecticut River through binoculars and microscopes. We’ll take a trip out on RiverQuest and to see the River’s curious creatures in their natural habitat.

April 17, Thursday: Historic Voyagers & RiverQuest
Campers will dive into the world of archaeology, unearthing the mysteries of the past while learning about the Connecticut River’s history. They’ll investigate the Museum’s artifacts, go on a scavenger hunt, and cruise on the eco-friendly research vessel RiverQuest.

Thinking about registering your learner for Spring Break Camp at CRM? Here are a few things to keep in mind…

Drop off/pick up times:

Drop off time is 9-9:10 am. Pick up time is 1:00 pm.

Please Note: Children will only be released to the parent/guardian or emergency contact. Anyone picking up a child must show a photo ID. Children may not be dropped off without being signed in. You must show ID at pick up.

Health and Wellness:

CRM must know any medical conditions, health problems, dietary needs, or personal emotional concerns that a participant may experience during a program. For any minor health problem, illness or injury that requires parental notification, a staff member will contact a parent/guardian. In the case of a medical emergency, our staff will contact 911.

If your child has an allergy that needs an epi-pen and/or asthma that requires an inhaler, you MUST let the Assistant Director of Education (Lauren Bennett-Dionne) know. There is additional paperwork.

Weather:

Staff are prepared daily with local weather knowledge and are proactive throughout the day by monitoring the weather. If any of the following three weather conditions exist, CRM may alter program curriculum: Lightning reports or warnings; severe wind or wind gusting; heavy rain downpours.

What to wear & bring:
We may be spending time outdoors! In order to maintain safety and ensure participants have an enjoyable experience, please consider the following:

• Footwear- Required: Children will be both inside and outside in muddy and wet conditions. Close toed shoes (sneakers are ideal).
• Hat, Sunglasses – Optional
• Bug repellent and sunscreen- Highly Recommended Parents must apply prior to drop off. No lotion based bug repellent or sunscreen will be applied by staff.
• Lunch, snack and water bottle: Required. Please no nut-based foods.

Boat Activities:
The Connecticut River Museum strives to provide a boat experience for each child multiple days throughout the week. We operate three vessels, and all boat captains and crew members follow Coast Guard Regulations and receive comprehensive training. Children are required to wear a personal floatation device (PFD) while on board any vessel. Captains and crew provide safety briefs to all children before boarding any vessel.
