River Tales with Ben Cosgrove

River Tales
October 3, 2026
11 a.m.
Ben Cosgrove Performance at 1 p.m.

On October 3rd, join the Connecticut River Museum’s artist-in-residence Ben Cosgrove for a one-time, special River Tales session! Young learners and their caregivers will explore the sounds and rhythms around the Museum grounds with Ben and learn how to translate that experience into music.  Note: There will only be one River Tales session this month at 11 a.m.

This October, we will read Oscar and the Bat: A Book About Sound by Geoff Waring. The book follows Oscar as he experiences many opportunities to leard about sounds both loud and soft and near and far. Following the story, Ben will walk the children through making a sound map of the space around them.

Afterwards, gather on the third floor for a performance by Ben at 1 p.m., where he will perform some of his own compositions, all inspired by the soundscapes of the places he’s visited. The concert is included with purchase of Museum Admission.
