Join us to launch Wick Griswold and Ruth Major’s latest book –  Connecticut River Shipbuilding

Wick Griswold is sharing the release of his latest book which he co-wrote with Ruth Major, Connecticut River Shipbuilding, here at the Connecticut River Museum. We could not be more excited!  The primary focus of the book is on shipbuilding in Essex, Connecticut, flowing from dugout canoes to the sleek yachts of today. In this lecture, Wick examines and discusses the changes over time, from canoe to ship to pleasure boat, making the point that what we do today becomes nostalgia and, ultimately, history.

Wick Griswold teaches the Sociology of the Connecticut River at the University of Hartford. He is the author of five books on Connecticut River history. He is also the Commodore of the Connecticut River Drifting Society.
