Group Tours

The Connecticut River Museum welcomes adult groups to come explore the Museum and discover the rich heritage and natural beauty of the Connecticut River Valley. The Museum is ADA accessible and open year round from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

Museum Programs

 

Guided Tour

A Docent will guide your group through three floors of exhibit galleries.
A tour generally lasts 45 minutes to one hour.
After the guided tour, your group is welcome to continue to explore the
Museum, Gift Shop, and Grounds.

Your group may choose to explore the Museum on your own.
You will be greeted by a staff member at the front desk to get started on your tour.

Helpful information for Planning Your Visit

    Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more.

  • 2.

    Advance registration is required.

  • 3.

    You can choose from one or more of the listed programs or discuss specialty program options with the Education Department.

  • 4.

    Programs are available year round.

  • 5.

    The Museum galleries are ADA accessible and the boat cruises are accessible for most mobility levels.

  • 6.

    Groups traveling in large buses should contact Education Director for further information.

Museum Group Tours & River Cruise Packages

River Cruises are offered onboard the RiverQuest from February to October and the Onrust from May to October. These programs require a minimum of 15 people and are available on weekdays only. Please call for more information.

Youth Group Programs and Workshops

We welcome youth groups of all ages to visit the Connecticut River Museum. Scout, civic, homeschool, clubs, and faith-based groups are all welcome! Land and water based programs and workshops are offered year round. We focus on the human experience and natural environment of the Connecticut River and the Connecticut River Valley. Take a sail on the historic Onrust sailing vessel, participate in an naturalist’s program aboard the River Quest, or engage in one of a variety of land based interactive, hands-on programs.

Groups should be a minimum of 15 participants. One adult per 10 children under the age of 17 is required.

Public Programs

We offer a wide variety of public events designed to connect audiences with all aspects of the Connecticut River, both historical and environmental. The programs aim to enhance the museum experience by supporting education, outreach and fundraising efforts. The events offered are dynamic, fun, content-rich, and intend to fully and deeply engage visitors. Programs include live music, paddle exploration opportunities, group hikes, timely and engaging lectures, theatric storytelling, and food and drink.
