June – October 2018

This exhibit and Trail Map will help you explore alcohol’s complex role in the Connecticut River Valley from colonial settlement to present day. Come taste our heritage.

EXHIBIT
Now through October 8, 2018 see the exhibit The Thirsty River: 400 Years of Drink, Life, and Reform in the Connecticut River Valley at the Connecticut River Museum. This exhibit explores the role of alcohol in the Valley – past, represent, and future. Trace its story beginning both as a commodity and as a substance in the daily human experience. Learn about how different beverages were created from local agricultural products and how immigration, trade, slavery, and changing fashion altered the availability and popularity of certain beverages, generating new tastes for new generations. Temperance, prohibition, and the effects of reform movements are also part of this dynamic story.

Don’t miss iCRV Radio’s show Fermented.
