DESCRIPTION:Special Exhibit\nRhythm of the River: Music and Memory Along the Connecticut\nOn view: July 30\, 2026 — October 11\, 2026 \nRhythm of the River examines the Connecticut River and its surrounding valley as an acoustic space\, exploring both the sounds of human life along the River and the natural sounds of the River and its wildlife. The story of these rhythms is expressed through original art\, photographs\, sheet music\, sound recordings\, and more. Explore displays of musical instruments and other objects\, such as steam whistles and dinner chimes that were used on the luxurious steamboats which took passengers on excursions up and down the River. \nLearn more here. \n  \nThis exhibit has been made possible through the generous support of The Robert F. Schumann Foundation and Connecticut Water.

DESCRIPTION:Tree Swallow Sunset Trips on Onrust & RiverQuest\nAugust 21\, 2026 through September 23\, 2026 \n  \n\nJoin us aboard RiverQuest & Onrust as we sail to a special spot on the Connecticut River where 100’s of thousands of Tree Swallows gather. After spending the day miles away\, the swallows return each night to sleep in the reeds. They gather at sunset and perform aerial ballets forming an amazing display of art\, coordination and cooperation! \nEnjoy the entire evening! We will spend 2+ hours on the water aboard Onrust. \nThis sail is primarily to see the Tree Swallows\, however\, it is also about the journey….there is so much to see while sailing along the river. \nThis is a small group experience that is unique each sailing. The captain and crew promise a great evening for all to enjoy the Tree Swallow show and this special time on the pristine Connecticut River! \nAdults Only / Ages 10+\, $50 \n\nBOOK NOW\n(There is limited availability. Perfect for young learners 4+ and their caregivers. Check in at the front desk upon arrival. \n \nThis September\, we will be reading Leaf Man by Caldecott medal-winner\, Lois Ehlert. Ride the wind with Leaf Man as he travels every which way and meets ducks\, geese\, cows\, and more! \nAfter the story\, young learners and their caregivers will make their own Leaf Person out of colorful construction paper.
